Office 365 and Exchange Online plans come with an Online (In-place) Archive that provides an unlimited amount of storage, which removes the need to export emails to PST file to manage the size of your mailbox.
Whilst the Primary Mailbox is generally cached on your hard drive for faster performance, the Online (In-place) Archive mailbox is not - which means that although it's slightly slower to access it does not fill your hard drive with cached emails.
Your system may be set up with a Retention Policy that will automatically archive emails from your Primary Mailbox to your Online (In-place) Archive Mailbox based on their age.
Access using Outlook on your Desktop
If you are using Outlook Office 365 on your computer then you can access your Online (In-place) Archive mailbox directly from within Outlook, you will find it in the folder list on the left sidebar in Outlook, it's generally at the bottom beneath your Primary Mailbox.
Access Using Outlook Online
If you are using Outlook 2016, Outlook 2013 or an earlier version of outlook then you will need to use Outlook Online to access your online archive.
You can access Outlook Online via https://outlook.office365.com - once logged in you will find the Online (In-place) Archive Mailbox listed in the left sidebar, it's generally at the bottom beneath your Primary Mailbox.
